An
architect should be able to provide guidance on the cost of
some proposed schemes before any work is commissioned, and
on the other costs which must also be budgeted for when considering
building:
- local
authority fees for planning applications and consent under
the current building regulations
- VAT
- zero rated on new houses but standard rated on most extensions
and alterations (listed buildings are treated differently)
